The
mysterious Shuang Hua appears for new label N1 with the hypnotic groove
of "Palindrome" which takes you deep into the exotic - much like the
magical and complex minimalism of Ricardo Villalobos or Petre
Inspirescu. When entering her name in a search engine, the only clue we
get is a Chinese singer from way back in the '60s that appeared on the
soundtrack for Wong Kar-wai's acclaimed film 'In The Mood For Love'.
Alas, we're totally into what they are doing, believe us, particularly
with the dub version on the flip: a serving of lean and reduced poly-
rhythmicity that calls to mind the work of Cristi Cons or Sepp.
